Why a whole-house filtration system makes sense

Australian tap water is treated with chlorine or chloramine so it arrives free of harmful bacteria, and that disinfection is essential. But the disinfectant doesn't stop working when it reaches your home. It's in your shower, your kettle, your washing machine and your hot water system. A whole-house filter is fitted where the mains enters your property, so every tap gets cleaner water, not just the kitchen sink.

5mg/L
Chlorine allowed

The health-based guideline limit for total chlorine in Australian drinking water.

0.25mg/L
THM guideline

The limit for trihalomethanes, by-products formed when chlorine reacts with organic matter in the water.

Disinfectants across Sydney

Some suburbs get free chlorine, others chloramine. Each needs the right filter media.

No more chlorine taste or smell

Residual disinfectant gives tap water its "pool" taste and smell, especially in free-chlorine areas. Carbon filtration removes it, so water from every tap tastes and smells clean, including the bathroom and laundry.

Fewer chlorination by-products

When chlorine meets natural organic matter it forms trihalomethanes (THMs). Australian guidelines encourage reducing them, as long as disinfection isn't compromised. Levels tend to be higher in chlorinated supplies and in summer. A quality carbon stage reduces THMs at the point where water enters your home.

Better showers for skin and hair

Hot, steamy showers release chlorine and volatile by-products into the air you breathe, and chlorine dries out skin and hair. A drinking-water filter at the kitchen can't help in the bathroom. A whole-house system treats every shower in the house.

Protects your pipes and appliances

Sediment, rust and grit from the mains build up inside pipes, tapware, valves and hot water units. A sediment pre-filter catches them first, helping your hot water system, dishwasher and washing machine last longer.

Catches what the pipes pick up

Water travels through kilometres of network and older household pipework before it reaches you. Discolouration or a metallic taste often comes from the pipes, not the treatment plant. Point-of-entry filtration deals with it before it spreads through the house.

One system instead of many

Skip the jugs, bottled water and separate shower filters. One unit at the mains, serviced with a cartridge change, covers the whole home without dropping your water pressure when it's sized correctly.

How a whole-house system works

We fit the unit on your incoming water line, after the meter and before the hot water system, so both hot and cold supplies are filtered.

Getting the media right matters. Free chlorine is removed by standard activated carbon, while chloramine needs catalytic carbon. We check which disinfectant your suburb receives and size the system to your home's flow rate before we quote.

About us

Better water for our community, one home at a time

We're plumbers first, and we've spent more than 25 years inside people's homes. Over time we kept seeing the same thing: water that tasted of chlorine, showers that left skin dry, and hot water systems and tapware worn down by grit from the mains.

Most families never think about the water running through their home, because it comes out of the tap looking clean. But it's what they drink, cook with, bathe their kids in and shower in every day. We realised that a single filter, installed properly where the water enters the house, could make every one of those moments better.

That's why we chose to focus on whole-house filtration. We care about living healthy, and we want to help the people around us do the same. Every system we put in means one more household with cleaner water at every tap. Home by home, street by street, that adds up to a healthier community.

We're not a box-drop filter company

Plenty of companies sell one standard unit to everyone and move on. We test your water for free during the on-site quote, check whether your suburb gets chlorine or chloramine, and match the filter to your water and your flow rate.

Installed with care, by a plumber

You're trusting us with your home's main water supply, and we treat it that way. Every system is fitted by a qualified plumber, tidy and pressure-tested, positioned so cartridges are easy to change, and explained to you before we leave.

We stick around

A filter only works if it's looked after. We'll email you a reminder when your cartridges are due, answer questions whenever they come up, and handle the rest of your plumbing too, so you've got one trusted team for your water.

We do this because we believe everyone deserves clean, healthy water at home.

FAQ

Common questions about whole-house filtration

Can't see your question here? Call us on 0402 099 808 and we'll talk it through.

How much does a whole-house filter cost?

It depends on the size of your home, your water flow rate, whether your suburb gets chlorine or chloramine, and where the mains enters the property. We come out, test your water for free, and give you a fixed written price before any work starts. There's no obligation.

Is the water test really free?

Yes. Every on-site filtration quote includes a free water test. We'll show you the results on the spot and explain what they mean for your home.

How often do the cartridges need replacing?

Most systems need a new sediment cartridge every 3 to 6 months and a new carbon cartridge every 6 to 12 months. It depends on the system and how much water your household uses. We'll tell you the schedule for your system and email you a reminder when it's due.

Will a filter reduce my water pressure?

Not noticeably when the system is sized correctly for your home, which is why we check your flow rate before we quote. Cartridges that are overdue for a change can slow the flow, so changing them on time keeps your pressure up.

Does it filter the hot water as well?

Yes. We install the system on the incoming main before your hot water unit, so every hot and cold tap, every shower and your appliances all get filtered water.

Is Sydney tap water unsafe to drink?

No. Sydney's tap water meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. A whole-house filter is about removing the chlorine or chloramine taste and smell, reducing chlorination by-products, catching sediment and rust from the pipes, and giving you better water in the shower as well as the kitchen.

Does it remove fluoride?

No. Sediment and carbon filters don't remove fluoride in any meaningful amount. Removing fluoride needs a different type of system, usually reverse osmosis at the kitchen tap. Ask us if you'd like to talk about options.

How long does installation take?

Most installs are finished within a few hours. Your water is only off for part of that time, and we'll let you know before we shut it off.

I'm renting. Can I still get one?

You'll need your landlord's permission, because the system connects to the property's main water supply. We're happy to give you a written quote to send to your landlord or agent.
